Public Art. Contemporary. Valid. Vital? Roundtable Discussion. Part of the GUM-Red-Line “Red Garden” Project. Finissage.

09 september 2021 / 19:00 / GUM-Red-Line Gallery, 1st Line, 2nd Floor

This year XXL art gained new momentum in Moscow, resulting in lively debates. Some people support it, some people oppose, others remain unsure of what to think.

In these circumstances, a number of questions arise:

- What public art is in demand among commissioners (city authorities, real estate developers, architects, commercial centers, gallery owners)?
- How to make an area relevant and commercially viable with public art?
- What are the specific features of contemporary art for public spaces? Should such public art be eternal or temporary?
- Who are the public art creators of today and tomorrow?

The following urban environment development experts will participate in an honest roundtable discussion:

Sergey Kuznetsov – chief architect of Moscow
Grigory Revzin – Strelka KB partner, Kommersant columnist, architecture critic
Elizaveta Likhacheva – Schusev State Museum of Architecture director
Evgeny Semenov – INTECO Group first vice-president
Alexander Tsimailo, Nikolay Lyashenko – architects, founders of the Tsimailo, Lyashenko and Partners Bureau
Nikolay Polissky – artist, Nikola-Lenivets Art Park founder
Anna Trapkova – Director of the Museum of Moscow

Moderator: Julia Bychkova, Nikola-Lenivets Art Park director, Archstoyanie Festival producer
