Two years ago, we launched the first GUM-Red-Line festival of contemporary art and opened the eponymous gallery at GUM on Red Square. The showcase of the most relevant Russian artists who were involved in creating covers for BoscoMagazine went on for two months. Over three million GUM visitors attended this exhibition. For many of them, it was their first encounter with contemporary art.

Since then, thanks to the support of GUM and Bosco di Ciliegi, we are consistently pursuing our mission to involve people in the world of contemporary art. We select organic formats and discover the most exciting artists.

GUM-Red-Line Gallery on the third floor of GUM continues its work and has experienced considerable success. Our portfolio includes 16 exhibition projects as of the present time. The gallery became an iconic spot that is beloved by the Moscow artistic milieu.

Recently life threw us a curveball, precluding us from making large-scale statements in the form of substantial exhibitions. The festival, conceived as an annual event, had to skip a year and turned into a Biennale.

The second GUM-Red-Line Festival focuses on a major theme: public art – objects and forms of art that are not enclosed in museums and galleries but are placed out in the open. Public art has a big impact on the urban environment and our lives in general. Our friends and colleagues, curators and producers of the well-known epic Archstoyanie festival, suggested the idea for our festival and made it a reality.

We had a great opportunity this year to mount a grandiose exhibition right in front of GUM, on Red Square. This makes the second festival fully comparable in scope to the first edition. Moreover, that way the exhibition is open for visitors 24/7.

It is a great pleasure to continue our endeavor and introduce significant contemporary artworks and artists to millions of Moscow residents and tourists visiting the city. Naturally, our festival and gallery will always strive for novelty in projects since GUM-RED-Line is unconditionally a part of the Cherry Forest Open Art Festival which is a truly all-encompassing, comprehensive event.

Save the date. Our meeting place is outside, on Red Square, in front of GUM!
