The five-pointed canonical star, originally envisioned in miniature, undergoes various transformations yet its importance as a symbol for Russian history remains. The artist works with symbols of the past. Rusted-out metallic constructs gain new meaning and a certain metaphysical aspect. As stated by the author, “compulsive examination of current events” allows one to experience the passage of time.
